Born and raised in rural Western North Carolina, Whitney has always had an interest in vernacular architecture and regional handicraft. Prior to founding JPL, she was a Senior Interior Designer with Atelier Ace, the creative arm of the ACE Hotel Group. She spent five years at Aero Studios as Studio Staff Director under Thomas O’Brien, developing flagship stores for Williams Sonoma and its West Elm, Pottery Barn, and PB Kids brands. Whitney also worked at Roman and Williams Buildings and Interiors on a variety of commercial and residential projects. She holds an MS in Interior Design from the Pratt Institute and a BA in Art History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Amanda started her career as a dancer with Ballet San Jose and The Cincinnati Ballet. Through this training Amanda developed a keen sensitivity to the interaction of the human body with its physical environment. Prior to founding JPL, Amanda was a Senior Interior Designer for Eve Robinson Associates where she managed a wide range of custom commissioned residential projects, from schematic design through construction administration and decorative installation. Amanda is an Allied Member of ASID and is a former chair and founder of their National Emerging Professionals Advisory Council. She holds an MS in Interior Design from the Pratt Institute and a BS in Ballet Performance from Indiana University.
